Investing in countries from central Europe to central Asia

Strategy for Romania

The EBRD has adopted a new strategy for Romania in which the Bank reaffirms its commitment to the country and sets out its priorities for the next three years. In the coming period, the EBRD will focus on private sector companies, energy and infrastructure in order to support the production side of the economy and assist Romania in maximising the benefits of EU membership.

World day for safety and health

The EBRD is promoting a safety culture in its countries of operations. Some of the Bank’s leading experts – the Corporate Director for Environment, the Director for Nuclear Safety, the Director for Natural Resources and the Director for Transport - explain how.

Ploughing profits back into region

The EBRD Board of Directors have agreed that 80 per cent of the Bank's net income from 2007 should be allocated towards resources needed for future investments in its countries of operations. This decision creates the capacity to sustain the Bank's operations around last year's record volumes.

Workers' remittances to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Moldova

A donor-funded study analyses the flow of remittances in the early transition countries. The EBRD is presenting the study's findings at a conference in Tbilisi, Georgia on 27 March 2008. Sibel Beadle, EBRD's Principal Banker, explains the study's findings.
