Identity of individuals making a complaint
Members of an affected group may have concerns about disclosing their
identity. Anonymous complaints will not be accepted, however, it is possible
to ask for the identity of individuals in an affected group to be kept
confidential.
The authorised representative for a registered complaint can request for the
identity of the members of the group not to be disclosed. When doing so, the
reasons for requesting confidentiality need to be given.
The request for confidentiality will be reviewed by the eligibility assessors.
They may determine that keeping identities confidential will not be possible
using reasonable means. This may happen if the nature of a complaint gives a
strong indication of where the complaint arose. In such a case, the
eligibility assessors will advise the authorised representative and they will
discuss how the complaint should proceed.
Sensitive business and other confidential information
Proceedings under the IRM are subject to the Bank's Public Information Policy
which emphasises transparency and disclosure of information concerning the
Bank's operational activities.
The Public Information Policy provides for specific categories of documents
and information to be kept confidential if this is necessary in order to
develop business initiatives when considerable private resources are at stake.
Similarly, the IRM Rules of procedure recognise that information provided on a
confidential basis must remain confidential in order to ensure the integrity
of the IRM and to enhance cooperation with the mechanism.
