Mike Williams, Director, Risk Managment

Mike Williams is Director of Risk Management. Reporting to the Vice President for Risk Management, Human Resources and Nuclear Safety, he has overall responsibility for risk management activity at EBRD leading six teams which manage credit, market and operational risk. As Director of Risk Management, he attends the Bank’s Executive Committee and he is a member of the Operations Committee which has responsibility for screening all of the Bank’s projects.

Mike Williams joined the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in 1994 as Director of Credit Portfolio Review, where he established the Unit to oversee the credit control of the growing portfolio of loans and equity investments. He assumed his current role as Director of Risk Management in April 2001.

Prior to joining the EBRD, Mr Williams gained a wealth of experience in various credit and banking roles over 21 years at the Swiss Bank Corporation (1993-1994), Nomura Bank International PLC (1989-1993) and Bank of America NT and SA (1973-1989).

A British national, Mike Williams holds a Masters Degree in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Cambridge.
