Apply for BAS assistance

How to apply for BAS assistance

To qualify for consideration, enterprises must:

  • Be majority privately owned.
  • Be majority locally owned.
  • Have been in existence for at least two years.
  • Operate in all sectors except banking/financial services, military products/services, gambling, tobacco, primary agriculture or real estate development.
  • Have little or no previous experience of using external consultants, and/or scarce resources available to finance a complete project.
  • Able to demonstrate potential for growth, a genuine need for business advice and a capacity to absorb the assistance given.
  • Be open to cooperate with BAS and the consultant.
  • Financial commitment: enterprise is ready and able to pay at least 50% of the total project cost.

BAS application process

  1. Get in touch with your local BAS office: BAS contacts.
  2. SMEs apply to BAS programme. Alternatively the BAS team will contact the SMEs.
  3. SMEs are interviewed by BAS team and consulting needs are defined.
  4. Project proposal and requested supporting documentation are submitted to BAS office.
  5. Enterprise eligibility is assessed and notification to the client made (in maximum of 4 weeks).
  6. Terms of reference for advisory services specifying inputs and outputs is developed.
  7. A suitably qualified consultant is selected jointly by SME and BAS.
  8. Enterprise financial contribution to project cost is agreed and grant Agreement is signed.
  9. Project implementation is supervised and monitored by local BAS team.
  10. Final report by the consultant is submitted and approved by SME and BAS.
  11. Once SME proves full payment of project to consultant, subsidy payment by BAS is made to SME.
  12. One year after project disbursement, BAS revisits SME a completion report is prepared reviewing the consultant's recommendations, the SME's actions taken and resulting benefits.
