Noreen Doyle appointed First Vice President at EBRD

Noreen Doyle, a veteran banker who is currently head of credit and market risk at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, has been appointed First Vice President at the Bank, succeeding Charles R. Frank Jr.

As First Vice President, Ms Doyle will be responsible for banking operations, chairing the Operations Committee that reviews all projects before Board consideration, as well as helping to shape the Bank's overall strategy and management. She will continue to sit on the Executive Committee chaired by President Jean Lemierre.

"Noreen is a proven banker who has a profound knowledge of our region and sensitivity to the mission of this Bank," Mr Lemierre said. "In her nine years at the EBRD, she has conducted some of the toughest negotiations, built business, created and nurtured new functions and helped the Bank to shift direction as markets or environments evolved."

Mr Lemierre recommended to the EBRD Board of Directors that Ms Doyle be appointed after an extensive international search conducted by a world-class executive recruitment firm. "That process produced one clear winner," he said.

The Board appointed Ms Doyle today. Ms Doyle, 52, holds a bachelor's degree from the College of Mount St. Vincent and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. She began her career at Morgan Guaranty Trust and in 1974 joined Bankers Trust, where she served as a client manager in New York and Houston; a division manager originating and executing transactions for multinational companies in New York; and managing director for the distribution of structured financings in New York and, from 1990, in London, with European responsibilities.

In 1992, a year after the EBRD was founded, Ms Doyle was recruited to set up its syndication business. In 1994 she was promoted to manage the credit function, and since 1997 she has been a member of the Executive Committee, responsible for credit and market risks.

Ms Doyle, who holds US and Irish citizenship, takes up her new post on 1 September.
