Belgrade recommended to host Annual Meeting in 2005
The EBRD Board of Directors decided on Tuesday to recommend to the Bank’s Governors that Belgrade, in Serbia and Montenegro, should be the location for the Bank’s Annual Meeting on 22 and 23 May 2005.
The Directors decided that the 2005 Meeting would have a particular focus on the Western Balkan countries and would emphasise the advantages of strong cooperation between the countries within that region. Seminars to be held during 2005 in other countries of the Western Balkans will also stimulate discussion around themes related to cross-border linkages.
The Annual Meeting is typically held in alternate years in London and a country of operations of the Bank. The 2004 Annual Meeting will be held in London. The Meeting is the opportunity for shareholders, investors, policy makers, non-governmental organisations and journalists to discuss trends, concerns, and progress in the region as well as to meet the people who are shaping the economic future of the 27 countries in the EBRD region.
The recommendation of the EBRD Board of Directors will be submitted to the Bank’s Governors, who are expected to make the final decision on the location of the meeting within 30 days.
