This GPN updates GPN Reference Number 5647-GPN-38773, which was published on the Bank’s web-site on 26 November 2007.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Tajikistan intends using the proceeds of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development [the Bank] for a project to improve the planning and execution of road maintenance on the national road network. The proposed project, which has a total estimated cost of US$6 million equivalent, will require the procurement of the following goods, works and services:

• essential road maintenance equipment required for the maintenance of the Tajik road network includes wheel loaders, motor graders, excavators, cold planning/milling machine, truck mounted asphalt batching & road maintenance unit and snow blower.

Tendering for the above contracts is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2008.

Contracts to be financed with the proceeds of a loan from the Bank will be subject to the Banks Procurement Policies and Rules and will be open to firms from any country. The proceeds of the Banks loan will not be used for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities of any import of goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by a decision of the United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations or under a law of official regulation of the Purchasers country.
