One of the Evaluation Department's (EvD) key responsibilities is to ensure
that past experience is applied to new projects and policies.
EvD consults extensively with banking teams to identify lessons learned. EvD
also provides regular feedback during the preparation and approval of new
projects to ensure banking staff are aware of past experience. The aim of the
evaluation process is to improve the selection and design of future EBRD
operations.
Published in Septemeber 2003, these 40 project summaries and respective
lessons learned provide a cross-section of EBRD investment operations.
Successful as well as less successful projects from both early and advanced
transition countries are included. The projects cover a number of financial
instruments and a wide range of industries such as steel plants, breweries,
textile manufacturers, pharmaceuticals, construction and food processing.
