Project description
and objectives:

A proposed loan to Kvazar-Micro Corporation BV to create a new personal computer assembly plant in Kyiv.

KMC is planning to create a new PC assembly plant in Kyiv with an annual capacity of 200,000 units.

Transition impact:

The loan will support the strongest and most transparent IT company in Ukraine. This will demonstrate to other local companies the value of transparency and good corporate governance. The project is expected to create greater efficiency and promote innovation in the Ukrainian IT sector.

The client:

Kvazar-Micro Corporation BV (KMC) is a holding company that owns the Ukrainian and international operations of the Kvazar-Micro Group. KMC is the leading Ukrainian personal computer (PC) assembler and among the top eastern European distributors of PC components and peripheral equipment. Its other businesses include system integration, project management and consulting and electronics.

EBRD finance:

US$ 8 million (€8.13 million) corporate loan in three tranches to finance capital expenditure of US$ 1.85 million (€1.88 million) as part of Trache 1 and working capital needs of US$ 2.15 million (€2.18 million) as part of Tranche 1, US$ 2 million (€2.03 million) as part of Tranche 2 and US$ 2 million (€2.03 million) as part of Tranche 3.

Total project cost:

Up to US$ 21 million (€21.34 million).

Environmental impact:

Screened B/1. There are unlikely to be any significant environmental issues associated with the project. Environmental due diligence is currently underway and includes an Environmental Analysis of the proposed modernisation and an audit of existing building.
